In designing a newsletter, we first of all select the size we want it to be. Normally most newsletters are designed in A3, A4 or A2 Sizes. We will be using the A3 Size in this tutorial.
STEP 1: In the property bar, there is a dialog box labeled Letter, go on and click on it some options of sizes will come up, search for A3 size. Click on it, automatically the page changes to A3.
STEP 2: Go to your toolbar and double click on the rectangle, a new rectangle will be formed on the page with exact size and shape. Choose a color, Ctrl+C to copy and Ctrl+V to paste a new rectangle, take your mouse cursor to the black node at the bottom of the rectangle, the cursor changes to a black arrow, drag it upward to a height of 2.5 inches. Select shape tool from the toolbar, select the rectangle, press Ctrl+Q to convert the shape to curve then double click three times at different bottom part of the rectangle to form new nodes. Click on the first one at your left hand side, click on curve and minus sign in the property bar then go ahead and drag the line to a curve shape (click on the first and drag upward, then click on another line in same segment and drag downward), do same to the nodes at the right hand corner.
STEP 3: Go to your fountain fill in your toolbar, click on custom in the color blend. Change the TYPE>LINEAR to RADIAL then go back to the color blend, click on the first node, click on the red color then select the other node and click on red. Select the first node and go to others in the color palette a box will come up, change the 0 in the “k” box to 50 then ok.
STEP 4: Copy and paste the curve shape to duplicate. Then click on the curve shape at the back, go back to fountain fill, now change the TYPE> RADIAL to LINEAR. Then move it downward a little. Duplicate again, now change the last curve shape, to black and grey from your fountain fill.
STEP 5: Select your ‘A’ from the toolbar and click on the page then type your text. Go to the fountain fill>Custom choose 20% black from color pallete and leave the white at the other side, then change the angle from the option to 90 and ok. Select your drop shadow tool, drag it over the text. Duplicate the text with the shadow, move the upper one a little bit upward.
STEP 6: Draw a smaller rectangle, using the fountain fill, change the color to the exact color of the curve shape. While the new rectangle is still selected go to effect from the menu bar, click on power clip > place inside container, the mouse cursor will now change to a black arrow. With the arrow click on the curve shape, the new rectangle automatically goes inside the curve shape.
Right click on the curve shape a dialog box comes up, select the edit contents. It now takes you inside the curve shape then click on the power clip rectangle, select the shape tool, click on one of the edge of the rectangle, and drag it downward the edges will now be curve. Duplicate, reduce the height of the upper one and click on the mirror tool in the property bar to give it a new color mode. While still inside the curve shape import your image. Place it at the right hand corner of the curve shape. After that right click with your mouse on any of the object, a dialog box will come up, click on finish editing level.
